PROJECT MANAGEMENT

The Australian Government (Torres Strait Regional Authority) and the Queensland Government (Department of Local Government, Sport and Recreation) are jointly funding the Major Infrastructure Program (MIP) for the Torres Strait Outer Island Communities.

The primary objective of this program is to upgrade major environmental health infrastructure in the Torres Strait Communities, including water reticulation systems, sewerage disposal, waste management, roads, stormwater drainage and land servicing.

MIP has delivered approximately $148M worth of infrastructure since 1988 and it has been announced that funding of $56M for the next round of infrastructure improvements for the Island Communities has been approved.
